AI cold email: how to write emails that don't look mass-sent

Spam filters, and people, are good at spotting the same email sent a thousand times. AI fixes that, but only if you give it a good brief. A vague prompt gives you a thousand vague emails.

Give the AI three things

  1. Who you are and what you offer, in one or two plain sentences.
  2. What you want the reader to do: reply, book a call, try something. One thing only.
  3. What it can use about each person: name, company, city, what they sell. Put these in columns in your list.

Rules that keep it human

  • Short. Under 100 words. Nobody reads long cold emails.
  • One personal detail, used naturally. "Saw you opened a second shop in Cairo" beats three compliments.
  • No hype words. Tell the AI to avoid "revolutionary", "game-changer", "unlock" and exclamation marks. Our spam word checker shows what to cut.
  • A real question at the end. Replies are the strongest signal that you're not spam.
  • Plain text, few links. One link to your own domain, no link shorteners.

Check a few before sending

Read ten of the AI's emails out loud. If one sounds wrong, change the brief, not the email. Then send one to the mail tester to check the score.
